Captured Nazi Swastika Banner with
Framed Provenance Document

1031-1. Original Captured Nazi Swastika Banner with Framed Provenance Document. This is an extremely fine example of a double-sided, multi-piece swastika banner of the type sent home as a war trophy by many GIs during WWII. However, this particular banner has a more interesting history than most. According to an old framed provenance document that came with it, this banner "was captured at a S.S. Headquarters" in Dilligan, Germany on December 20, 1944. The soldier who captured this banner is identified as Tech. Sgt. Clemence M. (Cobby) Saatzer of C Company, 90th Infantry Division of the 3rd Army under the command of General Patton. According to this document Sgt. Saatzer "at this engagement received the Silver Star" that was pinned on him by "General Van Fleet U.S.A.". Sgt. Saatzer received the Silver Star "for wiping out two german machine gun nests" according to the document. I have found on the internet an obituary for "Clemence (Cobby) Saatzer" of St. Cloud, MN that states Saatzer was recommended for the Medal of Honor during the Battle of the Bulge, and that he had earned three Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star and the Silver Star. The banner itself measures about 47" x 91" with the pole sleeve. This banner and document would make a nice historical display...$375.

Scarcer 1941 Red-Cover Edition of "Mein Kampf"
with Interesting Presentation Page

C596-1. Original Scarcer 1941 Red-Cover Edition of "Mein Kampf" with Presentation Page. This is the scarcer smaller red-cover edition of "Mein Kampf" by Adolf Hitler. This very fine example features a full presentation page affixed inside the front cover. The presentation inscription I believe indicates this book was given to a wounded soldier recovering from his wounds in Muelhausen. The presentation page is ink-signed by, I believe, Hans Peter Murer who was Kreisleiter of the Muelhausen district. Murer was an interesting fellow who originally had a French name (Jean-Pierre Mourer) but changed it to his Germanized name. After the war he was imprisoned by French authorities for collaboration with the Germans, and executed by a firing squad in 1947. This item comes from a long-time collector of original Third Reich memorabilia...$250. SOLD
