Outstanding example of this rare helmet featuring the distinctive "NPZ" and "1941" markings on the chin strap retaining clips. The marking "NPZ" stands for the New Zealand Dominion Physical Laboratory and denotes that the helmet meets correct tolerances and specifications. The helmet shell retains about 85% of the original OD green paint finish. I was informed by the consignor that this helmet is virtually unknown even to New Zealanders, and that there is no record of how many were made. Very small hole drilled into helmet apron. The soldier's name is scratched onto the inner skirt of the helmet along with some numbers. Very fine treated black cloth helmet liner with original OD web cloth chinstrap. Original WWII British Mark II Helmet with Dutch Insignia. Very fine original British Mark II helmet with liner and most of the original chinstrap. This particular helmet is dated "1941 Nl" and was manufactured by the Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd. of Dagenham, England. The liner is complete and includes the original drawstring (the top pad has separated and needs to be re-affixed to the helmet). The soldier's initials "W.F.S." are painted in red inside the helmet apron. This helmet comes with affixed insignia, including a large embroidered "NEDERLAND" patch. Dutch troops who fled the German occupation of Holland were formed into the "Princess Irene Brigade" in England and were issued standard British Mark II helmets without any distinctive insignia. However, this helmet came with the affixed insignia when the consignor purchased it. The consignor doesn't know what purpose the insignia on this helmet represents...$144. ON HOLD
