Original Nazi Early SA Dagger by J.A. Henckels

This is a nice early SA dagger with all nickel fittings on the dagger and scabbard. The dagger blade bears the maker's logo for the J.A. Henckels Zwillingswerk firm in Solingen. The blade is nice and straight with no edge dings and a sharp pointed tip. There are some small dark spots to the blade, and light surface scratches to the blade and blade edge. The lovely shaped wood grip fits snugly onto the crossguard and pommel. All the nickel fittings and eagle/swastika grip inset display that desirable yellowish age patina. The crossguard is marked "Wf" (SA Gruppe Westfalen). The scabbard has an undented steel body, with the brown paint finish being worn and having some surface rust. Three of the four nickel scabbard screws are present. Item #0117-1

This badge measures about 2 5/8" high and has a lovely professionally hand-engraved inscription. These stocknagel badges commemorate visits to various scenic cities and mountain villages in Germany, mostly during the years 1900-1945. This badge came in a box of Nazi relics with a “capture paper” (not included) that is dated 3 May 1945 and named to a G.I. “Stanley Obarowsky” with “Battery G, 559th AAA (AW) Bn.”. Item #1201-11
